I was lucky enough the spend a fun and creative morning with Silwia Mucha, who has been with Narcissus since 2016 and as you can see from the video below, she did an incredible job. So keep reading and give it a go, we would love to see pictures of your creations!

Picking wild flowers or stopping at your local florist, nothing enhances a home quite like a fresh bouquet and displaying one you have made yourself will certainly give you a great sense of pride.

What you will need to create a flower arrangement for your home

  • Flowers of choice
  • Fresh water
  • Vase or jug
  • Sheers or large scissors

Prepare by

  • Selecting your flowers – we recommend choosing the local in season blooms and greenery for added texture and colour. Choose complimentary colours or a single shade so your arrangement really stands out.
  • Fill your vase/jug with water and add any flower preservative.
  • You will want to trim the stems of your flowers at an angle, ensuring they are a suitable length to sit in your vase.
  • Ensure any leaves and bulbs that will sit in the water are removed.

How to arrange your flowers

As you will see from the video above, Silwia constructs her arrangement in her hand but you may find it easier to build your arrangement in your vase as it takes many years of practice to do in hand!

Firstly, start with the larger flowers and some greenery, Silwia turns the arrangement as she works to ensure a symmetrical layout. You can do this by turning your vase and placing your flowers in a circle. Once the layer first layer is completed, bring in other varieties of flowers and greenery, layer by layer until all the flowers are added. Consider varying the height of your flowers for added depth and you should be left with a nice balance of colour and texture.

Finally, Silwia refines her flower arrangement by adding buds, berries and more greenery throughout.

Silwia was kind enough to share a top tip to take your flower arrangement to the next level, greenery! Using two to three varieties will certainly make your arrangement look fuller and more textured, really bringing it to life.

Once your flowers have passed their best, simply place them in your food waste bin and they will be recycled. Rinse out your vase and you have a blank canvas to start fresh from.
