What The Dickins: A Tale Of Edinburgh City

Welcome to the Team – Cameron Spence

Cammy joins Dickins

A new year and a new addition to the Dickins team! Cameron Spence has recently joined as our new Business and Operations Coordinator. Playing a key role in ensuring that things run smoothly at Dickins and all of our homes are always looking their best, Cameron is a very important member of our team. We’re thrilled to welcome him!

How long have you lived in Edinburgh?

I have lived in Edinburgh all my life. Growing up up in the small village of Currie to the West of the city, I moved into the centre of town when I turned 18. I still visit Currie regularly to visit family and friends, but I do absolutely love living so central now.

What is an interesting fact about of you?

I have worked in tourism since I was 16 and started doing walking tours throughout the city to share my love and passion for Edinburgh.

A classic shot of Edinburgh

That’s fantastic, so where were you working before?

I previously worked at Visit Scotland and Visit West Lothian as a tourism officer.

What are some of your favourite places in the city?

I absolutely love Edinburgh’s New Town and have a real thing about mews houses so love nothing more than taking a stroll through the back streets of this side of the city. I really enjoy the National Museum of Scotland as well and am happy to spend a day just exploring the many exhibitions here.

Exploring cobbled streets like Circus Lane

Here at Dickins, we love property and homes. What’s your favourite room at home?

For me it is definitely the living room. A comfortable living space in an absolute must for me. A comfortable sofa and I am happy.

What are you most looking forward to about your new role at Dickins?

I think for me it is learning the in’s and out’s of Edinburgh’s short term letting industry. Short term lets have become a real topic of conversation in Edinburgh and not always in a positive way, so it’s great to work for an respectful, established company that cares about and understands that there must be balance between the needs of residents, business and visitors. I’m enjoying learning from the experienced team here at Dickins as to what this industry is all about. I am also loving the chance to visit so many lovely homes and pick up inspiration for my own in the future…

If you have friends of family visiting Edinburgh, where would be the first place you take them and why?

To begin with it would have to be the top of Edinburgh’s best view point, Calton Hill. I would take them here as this would allow me to give them the perfect overview of the city, from New to Old and point out all the best spots.

Beautiful view of the city of Edinburgh

The views from Calton Hill are amazing!
