Finding the perfect present for Father’s Day can often be tricky! If you’re struggling to find your father or grandfather something a little different, we’ve put together a guide to celebrating Father’s Day in Edinburgh. We think experiences are often better gifts as they create memories and any excuse to get the family to take a break from the busyness of everyday life and spend some quality time together can’t be a bad idea.

1. Edinburgh Film Fest in the City

  • When: 15th-17th June
  • Where: St Andrew Square
  • Price: Free

Edinburgh’s ever-popular free outdoor cinema is back with a great line-up! With six shows on Father’s Day to choose from, there’s the option to start your day with Paddington 2 (where you’ll receive complimentary Dundee Marmalade sandwiches, alongside a Paddington fancy dress competition) or Jason and the Argonauts then head off for lunch. On the other hand, you could enjoy brunch then sit down to enjoy The Greatest Showman or Ghostbusters in the afternoon. Lastly, there’s the option to finish your day with Big Trouble in Little China or Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

If your dad or grandad doesn’t fancy sitting outside, there’s also the option of watching Spartacus at the Cameo!
