Best Places to Enjoy a Cup of Tea in Edinburgh

It’s that time of year again when we’re all reaching for our cosy knits and gravitating toward coffee shops in search of a bit of warmth. Thankfully, here in Edinburgh, we are blessed with countless great independent cafés to choose from. But, for those of you who aren’t a huge fan of coffee, or on occasion enjoy a good speciality tea, this week’s blog will cover great cafés where you can indulge in a lovely cup of tea in Edinburgh.

1. Strumpets

  • Where: 35 William Street
  • Tea supplied by: Tchai-Ovna (Glasgow-based)

Located in Edinburgh’s West End, Strumpets is a wonderfully quaint café, which serves up quality coffee, home-baked goods, and more importantly a delicious cup of loose leaf tea! Furthermore, if you can’t decide which tea to choose, their staff are always more than happy to let you smell the teas and answer your questions!
Local Tip: If you live in the area, Strumpets also host a book club which you can join.

2. Lovecrumbs

  • Where: 155 West Port & 22 St Stephen Street (New)
  • Tea supplied by: Anteaques

Lovecrumbs is a well-loved local hang out spot, which is also famous for their scrumptious cakes and quirky interior. Their tea is supplied by Edinburgh-based Anteaques, who also have a shop on Nicholson Street.
Local tip: We highly recommend you try one of their floral flavoured cakes along with your tea of choice.

3. Pekoe Tea

  • Where: 20 Leven Street
  • Tea supplied by: Pekoe Tea

Pekoe Tea has been in the tea business since 2005 and they have an extensive range of teas on offer, both online and in their tea shop, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. Plus, visiting their tea shop is a wonderful experience if you’re a tea fan, as they have shelves upon shelves of teas to explore!
Local Tip: For any matcha latte lovers out there, Pekoe Tea has you covered!

4. Eteaket Tea Room

  • Where: 41 Frederick Street
  • Tea supplied by: Eteaket Tea

Located in the heart of New Town, Eteaket’s Tea Room is open every day for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea! They have also recently opened a concept store at 111 Rose Street, which is great if you’re looking for a present or some tea to take home with you!
Local Tip: Their “Blooming Marvellous” green tea is our personal favourite!

5. Rosevear Tea

  • Where: 100 Bruntsfield Place, 71 Broughton Street, and 17 Clerk Street
  • Tea supplied by: Rosevear Tea

Rosevear Tea have three stores dotted around Edinburgh and now have the widest collection of tea in the city. The brand was created by, husband and wife duo, Isabelle and Adam Rosevear and their passion for tea is evident! Their staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, plus you’re encouraged to smell all the teas and ask as many questions you want. All of their store have a small area where you can sit in and enjoy a cuppa.
Local Tip: If you visit Rosevear Tea’s Clerk Street store, they serve the most delightful scones with amazing rose or violet jam.
