What The Dickins: A Tale Of Edinburgh City

What’s On In Edinburgh – September 2019

With the Edinburgh festivals and the busy summer months coming to an end, September brings with it a peaceful period of time for the city. In the first weeks of the month, the capital goes through a massive post-festival clean up and there’s a wonderful sense of calm before the students arrive and the city comes alive again.

Edinburgh also tends to enjoy some lovely weather in September, making it a good month to get outside and explore the great outdoors. It’s the perfect time for a picnic in the city, a trip to the beach, or a drink in one of Edinburgh’s best beer gardens.

Our theme for September is beautiful interiors – and what better theme could there be for relaxation than a bit of lovely interior design? Be sure to keep an eye on our upcoming blog posts, which will feature some of our beautiful homes, our favourite Edinburgh interiors, and some of the coolest homeware shops in the city.

September 2019

Just because September is a little quieter for Edinburgh doesn’t mean that there aren’t still lots of things to enjoy!

A highlight this month includes the return of the popular Doors Open Days, Scotland’s largest free annual architectural event, which offers access to over a thousand venues across the month of September. In Edinburgh, this year’s festival will take place on the 28th – 29th. It’s a great opportunity to see the interiors of buildings that are rarely open to the public, and in some cases only open once in a lifetime!

The Castle Street Autumn Fair takes place from the 2-8th September, selling locally made arts and crafts, jewellery, food and drink, ethical goods, and more. There are several fantastic exhibitions taking place in Edinburgh’s many museums, and there’s still time to sign up for this year’s Kilt Walk on the 15th to help funds for local charities.
