Today marks the launch of the UK’s largest Gin Festival in Edinburgh. Is there a better combination?

With over 100 gins, the Edinburgh Gin Festival will cater for all the gin loving residents of Edinburgh and showcase some of the world’s best gins, including some wonderful Scottish gins. (Of which there are many!)

Throughout the evening, there will be live entertainment, talks from gin industry experts, food available to buy and lots of chit chat with other gin lovers alike. If you’re new to gin, don’t worry, the friendly staff will recommend plenty to get you going or tell you about their own personal favourites.

A Gin Tasting at One Square

If you would like to discover more about the 70 plus fabulous gins behind the bar at One Square but don’t quite know where to begin, then one of their gin tasting packages are just the tonic. With a chance to sample some current favourite serves – from English classics to the new school of boutique Scottish producers – this is the ideal way to get better acquainted with this most intriguing of spirits.

Daffy’s Gin

Made in Edinburgh, Daffy’s Gin is a delicious London Dry gin, not a sweetened or heavily flavoured gin but a Gin that can be enjoyed straight. Botanicals are steeped for 4 days, (as opposed to the usual few hours), which gives the gin a great depth of flavour and intensity. Distilled with Lebanese Mint, a soft salad mint grown in Mignonne’s father’s vineyard in the Becca Valley in Lebanon, the gin has toffee, buttery, creamy notes. The distillery is not currently running tours but they are hoping to  in the near future, keep your eyes peeled! (We love Daffy’s so just HAD to feature them!)

Fact:
The name ‘DAFFY’ is an old Dickensian/ Victorian nickname for gin from the early 1800s, just as ‘booze’ is today for alcohol ‘Daffy’ was the slang for gin. #WhatTheDickins

Pickering’s Gin and LockedIn Edinburgh

This multi award winning, marvellously mixed gin is hand crafted at Summerhall Distillery – the first exclusive gin distillery to be established in Edinburgh for over 150 years. Based on an original Bombay recipe, kept secret since 1947, Pickering’s is a spectacularly smooth and flavoursome gin. Perfect for all social animals.

Fancy a Lock-In?

Pickering’s Gin and LockedIn Edinburgh have teamed up to offer an experience like no other- the first distillery-themed escape game.
Located at Summerhall, LockedIn Edinburgh escape game makes use of the original rooms in the old small animal hospital, which closed its doors to veterinary teaching back in 2011. Their first game asked you to stop Dr C Lion experimenting on the animals left behind from the Vet School. Now, we need your help to foil a plot to blow up Summerhall Distillery. Could it be an employee plotting the company’s downfall?
Solve the clues in less than an hour- save yourselves, save the distillery and save the gin.

Cost: £20 per person includes a tour of Summerhall Distillery, gin sampling and your chance to make it out the distillery alive.

Edinburgh Gin

Our Edinburgh Gin Visitor Centre is a treasure trove of juniper delight, right in the heart of the capital’s West End.
