New Edinburgh Eateries we can’t wait to visit in 2021

As we patiently wait at home, watching the incredible work of the NHS and all those supporting the rollout of the vaccine, we can’t help but to look forward with great excitement. Many new eateries have opened in Edinburgh and we look forward to the day we can experience the delights these restaurants, bars and cafes have to offer. 

Edinburgh has always been a fantastic city for foodie flavours and the pandemic didn’t stop some great businesses from opening up, even in the most challenging times. Keep reading to see which restaurants, cafes and bars we can’t wait to try once restrictions ease. 

**The Government recently announced dates for hospitality to reopen from late April and fingers crossed this will go ahead! In the meantime, all the new Edinburgh eateries mentioned below have been creative in adapting to the situation so check out their websites to see how you can try their fare from home.

1. Salt Cafe

Where to stay: Guests absolutely love staying in our superb two bedroom ground floor home on Millar Crescent.

Under new ownership, we are keen to see the reimagining of this already popular cafe in Morningside. Steve and Liv bought the cafe in summer 2020 after falling in love with the name, the premises and its location in the picturesque neighbourhood of Morningside in Edinburgh. Described as ‘foodies who are passionate about seasonal produce and the provenance of ingredients’ and bringing a wealth of experience, we cannot wait to go for brunch, which they offer all day on Sundays.

2. The Chocolate and Pastry Bar

Where to stay: Enjoy a luxury stay just a stones throw away from the Chocolate & Pastry Bar in our Stafford Street home in the West End.

Italian chef Chiara Scipione decided to make Edinburgh her home and lucky for us, has set up a little shop in the West End full of chocolate and pastries. A shop adorned with hot chocolate bombs, pastries, ruby chocolate, cakes and so much more, it will be wonderful to visit this dream of a shop.

If you would like to try her chocolates in the meantime, Chiara is always whipping something up for the special occasions, like Easter and has them for sale on her website.

3. Le Petit Cafe

Where to stay: Our newest home on Grove street is a brilliant home with a great vibe and sense of style. 

Shrove Tuesday reminded us just how much we love pancakes, so our ears perked up when we first herd of the French creperie coming to town. Opened by Marion & Mathias, a French couple who moved to Scotland in 2019 to start a new life, we can’t wait to try their classic French galette – a savoury pancake made with buckwheat.

4. Dine Murrayfield

Where to stay: Our gorgeous home on Glencairn Crescent is centrally located and full of traditional features such as high ceilings with intricate cornicing and parquet floors. A perfect home from home. 

A friend of ours recently moved to the area and was quick to point out the fine looking eatery in Murrayfield, Dine Murrayfield, west of the city centre. A sister location to their atmospheric restaurant next to Usher Hall in town, and with a menu designed by Michelin starred chef Stuart Muir it will be a pleasure to try their ‘neighbourhood’ restaurant.

5. Bundits 

Where: 48-52 Constitution Street, Leith

Where to stay: With a sense of luxury, comfort and quality, our two bedroom Hopetoun Crescent apartment is a home you will instantly feel at home in.

We love bao buns and hearing a pop-up dedicated to the fluffy steamed buns has arrived in Leith leaves us all too excited for the end of restrictions. Described as a passion project for the team originally behind the New Chapter restaurant in the New Town, we hope this pop up becomes one of the permanent eateries in Edinburgh.

6. Johnnie Walker Experience – Rooftop Bar

Where to stay: A fabulous apartment with a fabulous location on South Charlotte Street which is less than a minute from Princes Street and overlooks beautiful Charlotte Square. 

Less of an Edinburgh eatery, but no less worthy of a mention. After watching the transformation of the old House of Fraser building on the corner of the west end of Princes Street over the past few years we are now reaching peak excitement to visit the rooftop bar. We can only imagine the views it will have of Edinburgh Castle and town! It’s been a very long time since we’ve enjoyed a drink out, this would be an ideal spot to visit as soon as we can.

Although the rooftop bar will be our first stop, there are many other bars to explore here, such as the Explorers’ Bothy and the sensory tasting room and we are sure it will be a fun night.

It has been inspiring to see, even in the most challenging of times, dreams being followed and new adventures being undertaking in Edinburgh.
