Our Top 10 Instagram Photos in December

December is almost over and with it the year 2016. We hope it’s been a good one for you! We’ve loved exploring Edinburgh with our iPhones, snapping photos as we go, but look forward to more wonderful insta-moments in 2017! Here are our top 10 most liked photos from December.
1. Advocate’s Close
Advocate’s Close just off the Royal Mile is one of Edinburgh’s many fascinating closes – and definitely one of the prettiest with the most stunning views. We’re not surprised that this photo landed our number one spot. Check out the restaurant and cocktail bar Devil’s Advocate if you walk down this close!
2. Arthur’s Seat
This was the view of Arthur’s Seat on Boxing Day morning – ethereal, beautiful and mystical at the same time. A view you could admire for hours!
3. Circus Lane
This classic view of Circus Lane with St Stephen’s Church in the background is always a sure bet. Never get tired of this view though!
4. National Gallery of Modern Art
This frosty December morning showed off the Landform by Charles Jencks in front of the Modern Art Gallery in a beautiful way.
5. The Central Hotel, Copenhagen
Louise spent a weekend in Copenhagen mid-December and was lucky enough to stay at The Central Hotel – billed as the world’s smallest hotel with only one room! If you’re looking for a romantic place to stay in Copenhagen, look no more!
6. Bakkehusmuseet
Another photo from Copenhagen made our top ten, and here are Louise’s thoughts on her visit: “I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a space as beautiful as the Bakkehusmuseet in Copenhagen. Those colours. Those floors. The flow. The double doors, the furniture. All dating to the early 1800’s. I love museums that were once someone’s home. I was weak at the knees.”
7. Circus Lane house
The topiary hedging outside this lovely house on Circus Lane is beautiful – as is everything else on this wee lane!
8. Drummond Place
Eye-catching New Town architecture never gets boring and those street lamps are just gorgeous.
9. Jenners
This is the only Christmas-photo on the list! The classic Christmas lights in Jenners department store is a nice, calmer alternative to the lights just across Princes Street. Very hygge!
10. Stockbridge
Edinburgh is full of interesting nooks and crannies and intricate details – the perfect Instagram-city if you ask us!
