Description

This delightful holiday apartment on Cumberland Street is situated in the heart of Edinburgh's Georgian New Town and is ideal for couples, anyone on a business trip or if you are just wanting to have a quiet get away. Its close proximity to local shops, restaurants, bistros, pubs and attractions means it’s in a perfect spot for exploring the city. There is excellent public transport just on Dundas Street – a bus every ten minutes in both directions which takes you straight up to The Royal Mile. However, Princes Street is only a 15 minute walk away. This apartment is available for self catering & holiday lets, short term & corporate lets and city & weekend breaks. From £350 per week…

Decorated with real flair and a sense of style and quality, this south facing pied-a-terre is located on the basement level, featuring a small private patio area, which can be enjoyed on a sunny day. You enter the apartment straight into the spacious, homely living room which has a TV, DVD player, a round dining table to seat 4 comfortably and a living flame gas fire for those cold Scottish evenings. The hall off the living room takes you firstly to the lovely bathroom with roll top bath, rain shower and underfloor heating, then to the fully equipped galley kitchen. The cosy double bedroom is situated at the back of the apartment overlooking a quaint and quiet Mews street. All in all this apartment is a wonderful retreat for anyone visiting Edinburgh. A real home from home!

Things to do

  • Drinking
    Kay’s Bar

39 Jamaica Street, West New Town
Small and cosy, this old New Town favourite is always packed full. Great selection of real ales and good hearty crowd and very good value filling lunches. There’s always a fire burning in the winter.

  • Drinking
    Oloroso

33 Castle Street, Central New Town
This cool, modern bar is attached to a well regarded restaurant. There’s a superb, really large terrace for outdoor drinking in the summer and boasts some spectacular views to boot. The cocktails are divine.

  • Eating
    Fishers in the City

58 Thistle Street, Central New Town, 225 5109
This is the bigger and buzzier new relation of the Leith stalwart. Never disappoints and good for an occasion dinner. Best to book.

  • Eating
    Vincaffe

11 Multrees Walk, Central New Town 557 0088
This popular restaurant is run by the Valvona and Crolla family. It has a great buzzing atmosphere and the food is delicious, if somewhat expensive. Popular with the Harvey Nichols shopping crowd.

  • Entertainment
    The Omni Centre

    Hillside
Its large modern glass structure dominates but also complements the surrounding area. There’s a mix of nationwide bars and restaurants to suit most tastes. It also has a Holmes Place Gym and Vue cinema with the latest films showing.

  • Places of Interest
    National Portrait Gallery

1 Queen Street Central New Town 624 6200
Provides a unique visual history of Scotland, told through portraits of the figures who shaped it: royals and rebels, poets and philosophers, heroes and villains. The collection includes work not only by Scottish artists but by great English, European and American masters such as Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Rodin and Kokoschka. In addition to paintings, the Portrait Gallery displays sculptures, miniatures, coins, medallions, drawings and watercolours. There’s a great café here too selling delicious home made food and some hard to resist cakes.

  • Places of Interest
    Royal Botanical Gardens

Inverleith Row [East Gate] & Arboretum Place [West Gate], Stockbridge 552 7171
The Botanic Gardens have one of most impressive collections of trees and plants in the world and is a gorgeous place to get lost in an while away a few hours. The glasshouses are where we Edinburgh folk used to go for a treat before the days of central heating! Inverleith House usually has an interesting modern art exhibition and the views of Edinburgh from here are stunning.
