Calton Hill is a winding street with picturesque buildings dating from the 1760's on the lower slopes of the hill which bears the same name. The street pre-dates the Georgian New Town. There's an amazing sense of history staying here. You can climb to the top of Calton Hill to take in the stunning views over Edinburgh from there. This home is so quiet and yet you're less then 5 minutes walk from Princes Street, so the location is brilliant. Cabs, buses and trams are all available locally as are a bewildering selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. In the Edinburgh Festival the major venues are a short walk away.

There's an absolute charm about this home. You climb down steps to reach the front door. Inside you'll find a large open plan living room with a huge comfy sofa and a dining table to seat 6 and 8 at a push. The kitchen is open plan to the living room and it's large and very well equipped for dining and entertaining at home. Off the living room is the real highlight of this home - a huge private terrace garden, where it's impossible to believe you're less than 5 minutes from Princes Street. There's something Shakespearean about the garden, I'm not sure if it's because of the huge old wall to the right where you might imagine finding Juliet at the top, but it's a wonderful space with tables and chairs and tubs planted with herbs.

Both bedrooms are quiet with comfy beds and lovely linen - so you should have a great night's sleep. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and there's a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Dogs are welcome in this home and it's perfectly located for walks on Calton Hill. Children are welcome too, but due to the steps it's probably more suitable for 4 year olds and above. You're sure to be charmed by 16b Calton Hill.
