To speak with Louise Dickins personally, please call 0131 558 1277. Emailing me at email@example.com is easier in the first instance as I’m juggling work and looking after my two young children. We can then arrange to speak.
We are able to keep working smoothly from home and we are entirely set up remotely, with all systems fully operational. Our office is currently closed and we aren’t sure when it will reopen.
Current and Future Booking
For any future bookings made before 17th March 2020 or new bookings made since then, if you are unable to take up your stay due to Government restrictions imposed on travel or the re-closure of holiday accommodation or if you or anyone in your party has Covid-19 at the time of your booking, you would have the option to defer your booking or receive a credit note. Please note that if you are unable or unwilling to travel for any other reason, our normal cancellation terms would apply.
Bookings can be deferred to another date up to 12 months from the original departure date, subject to availability. The booking is not transferable to another property, unless it is another property in the same ownership.
Please note that if you rebook your stay for a period in a higher seasonal price band (for instance you choose to move your booking from a mid season to high season week), any difference in price must be met by you.
For guests who are unable to commit to another booking date at this time, we will issue a credit note/voucher on your account which can be used by you as payment against a booking of the same property for up to 12 months from the departure date of your original booking.
Our homes are always cleaned to 5* hotel standards. In these times of Covid-19, we fully understand our public health responsibility to keep anyone connected to our homes – guests, housekeepers, tradesmen, neighbours etc. safe and well. We’re members of the Association of Scottish Self Caterers and they have compiled new cleaning protocols which have been endorsed by the Scottish Government and which we are following. So, you can trust that any home you book with us will be immaculately clean and safe.
Currently Louise, Nicky and Bethan are working whilst Simon, Cassandra, Cameron and Claire are furloughed. As well as being colleagues, we are friends, we are a sort of family and we are sticking together. I will be doing everything I can to get us to the other side of this together.
The Future For Dickins
This moment of pause has been a good time to think about the business and the future. In the autumn we will be adding long term letting to our range of services. It’s been 14 years since Dickins was involved in long term letting, but the time feels right to re-enter that marketplace. The usual Dickins ethos of quality, service, care and the personal touch will be at the forefront of this new long term letting service. Owners can rest assured that their property will be in safe hands with us, just as it is with our short lets. If you’d like to discuss long or short term letting, please get in touch with Louise. It will be possible for you to give me a virtual tour, so that I can value your home until I’m able to visit in person.
We’re also adding investment advice and renovations through my husband Simon’s business Regent Refurbishment and Renovations.
I have always loved interior design and am teaming up with Lucy Gray, a talented friend who has recently returned from LA, to offer interior design services too, through Playfair Design, our new company. After all, after spending so much time in our homes of late, how many of us have realised that there are aspects which definitely need improving! I am convinced we will all get safely to the other side, although I believe when the world is back to ‘normal’ it will be a different one – actually a better one. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding and for the many lovely emails of support and encouragement we’ve received. They’ve been heartwarming.
