This modern and tranquil all-day eatery has an artisan bakery and serves brunch all day on the weekends (just in case you like to lie in!). They have an excellent selection of gluten-free and dairy-free cakes as well as dozens of delicious dishes to choose from. Their incredible brunch menu boasts dishes like Mediterranean poached eggs with avocado, vegan quesadillas, and mac & cheese open-faced sandwiches. Loudons has in fact been so popular in Edinburgh that they recently opened a second branch at New Waverley. They’re also known for being family-friendly and their large and airy locations make it easy to get in and out with a pram.

What to try: The superfood pancakes – homemade gluten-free pancakes made with smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, spring onion, quinoa and linseed topped with creme fraiche and herb salad. A great way to start the day!
