What The Dickins: A Tale Of Edinburgh City

Our Top 10 Instagram Photos In September

We’ve enjoyed the first autumn month – although it’s hard not to in our beautiful city when the trees slowly change colour, the air is so crisp and fresh and has that special autumnal smell. And who doesn’t love snuggling up in front of an open fire with a good book and a warm cup of tea when it’s dark and cold outside? Anyway, let’s take a look at what we caught on our phones during September month and which photos were enjoyed the most by our followers!

10. Edinburgh doorways

In tenth place is this gorgeous floral display we stumbled across in Rothesay Place in the West End. Now this is someone who really takes his or her flowers seriously. A fine example of the stunning entrances we get here in Edinburgh!

9. Helicopter ride

Our lucky Nicky was treated to a wonderful helicopter ride by her husband on her birthday (he’s a keeper!) and was so lucky to fly across the skies in the most beautiful sunny weather. Here’s one of her snaps from the ride that we just had to steal!

8. Scottish sunset

Louise spent a weekend in the Scottish Borders with her boys and managed to capture this glorious pink sunset on camera. So pretty you almost want to cry!

7. Calton Hill

If you’re wondering where this photo was taken it’s from the historical Rock House that Dickins lets from 3 nights up to 6 months. It’s a true gem with it’s own garden only two minutes from Princes Street. It’s just so special.

6. Rothesay Place

This ivy-covered building in the West End is one of the best spots to take an autumnal photo as the leaves slowly turn flame red. This is just the beginning!

5. The Mound

The buildings in the Old Town are fascinating to say the least – did you know that they were the first skyscrapers in the world?

4. Eglinton Crescent

A stunning Edinburgh crescent shimmering in the morning sun. Note the bay windows with curved glass – some great Victorian craftsmanship right there. If you’d like to stay on this lovely street then take a look at our Eglinton Crescent home here – the kitchen is to die for.

3. Stunning views

The owners of this Great King Street apartment are so lucky to get to enjoy a view like this from their balcony. Stay tuned as we might take on this home, in which case you’ll be able to stay here too!

2. Victoria Street

One of Edinburgh’s prettiest streets as seen from Crocket’s Land during the annual Doors Open Days weekend. It wouldn’t hurt to have more colourful streets like this in Edinburgh, don’t you think?!

1. Piper on the Royal Mile

And the winner is this Scottish piper with David Hume in the background. If you want to enjoy the lovely tunes of a bagpipe and see men in kilts playing it head to the Royal Mile when you visit!
