What The Dickins: A Tale Of Edinburgh City

5 Romantic Places to Propose in Edinburgh

With engagement season in full swing, we thought it would be a good time to give you our suggestions about where to pop the big question!

Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill, The Scott Monument, Edinburgh Castle and The Botanics are all fabulous places to get engaged, but if you feel that they’re a bit obvious Edinburgh is full of beautiful nooks and crannies that will be perfect for that special moment. Here are five of our recommendations!

Dean Village

The charming Dean Village in Stockbridge.

Go to Stockbridge and follow the beautiful path along Water of Leith until you reach the picturesque Dean Village. Then pick your spot and ask the question – perhaps the little bridge right by the water from where you have a great view of the pretty buildings?

Dunbar’s Close

This beautiful and peaceful garden is right off the bustling Royal Mile even though you wouldn’t believe it when you’re there. So just find your favourite spot, enjoy the garden and the moment!

Cafe St Honore

Popping the question in a restaurant isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but if you do it in this little French restaurant tucked away on Thistle Street you will have a romantic experience no doubt.

Circus Lane

Circus Lane Edinburgh

If you haven’t been to Circus Lane yet you will know why we include this little street by looking at the photo above. It’s possibly Edinburgh’s cutest, prettiest, most romantic lane – a perfect spot for getting engaged!

A few more suggestions by ROX

We came across this interactive Edinburgh Guide to Proposals by ROX – Diamonds & Thrills that we’d like to share here as well. This is actually the second of its kind, released after the success of the Glasgow Guide to Proposals, which highlighted the most romantic locations in the luxury jeweller’s flagship city.

The Edinburgh guide highlights iconic landmarks such as Arthur’s Seat, trendy clothing stores like Kestin Hare and historic hotels and restaurants, like Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh and The Witchery. Whatever your style, there’s something for every couple to make that special moment truly yours. The guide features over 20 locations, so there’s no need to stress about getting it right. Just click on the capitalised locations for more information and tips, and start planning your unforgettable Edinburgh proposal!

    All sound wonderful
The place I would recommend is a little out of the city but worth a visit is Dr Neil’s Garden
Adjacent to Duddingston Kirk and Arthur’s Seat a tiered garden down to the Loch a bird sanctuary
