St Mary's Street itself has some fantastic restaurants, cafes and boutiques but the choice of things to do locally is endless. This is a prime location for the Edinburgh Festival as it is three minute walk from The Pleasance. Access to Edinburgh University is also excellent. You certainly don't need a car in this brilliant, central location. Located on the third floor, the climb upstairs is made up for by the wonderful open views to Arthur's Seat from the recently renovated fitted kitchen and calm double bedroom. The kitchen with its green walls, has a dining table, microwave and a washer/dryer and is very well equipped for cooking. The peaceful bedroom has a kingsize bed made up with quality cotton linen, plenty of hanging space and a desk/dressing table next so the window, so a great place to take in the view. The very comfortable sitting room has two sofas and a flatscreen TV with freeview channels and a DVD player. The bathroom has just been fully refurbished to a high standard and has a double ended bath with a shower over the bath. There's also a small study with a desk. The apartment is carpetted with quality carpets and is decorated in Farrow and Ball colours. Wireless broadband is also available for guests. Please note, during the Edinburgh Festival a whole month booking is prefered in this apartment.

Places of Interest Edinburgh Castle Old Town As one of the most famous landmarks in Edinburgh, the Castle sits elegantly above the city. A visit to Edinburgh is truly not complete until you have walked round the site which dates from the 12th Century. As you explore, you can see the hourly changing of the guard and marvel at St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh, however do not be startled by the one o' clock gun salute, which happens on most weekdays. Places of Interest Royal Mile Old Town The Royal Mile (The High Street) is an unforgettable sight surrounded by steeply sloping cobbled streets and stunning architecture. It stretches down from the Castle to the Place of Holyrood House and unlike ‘High streets’ in many cities it is rich with specialist shops, small restaurants and intimate little bars. The Royal Mile is the focal point of the Festival and during the month of August has a carnival like atmosphere with stages featuring live performances, street performers, market stalls and much much more. Fascinating wynds and closes lead off the High Street and it has played host to many Edinburgh characters such as John Knox and the body snatchers Burke and Hare. Eating Petit Paris 40 Grassmarket, Old Town, 226 2442 Charming restaurant in the heart of the Grassmarket. Fantastic venue for lunch, they do an excellent offer of a '£5 menu ' which is worth every penny. Fast and friendly service, always busy, and a strong feeling of actually being in France! Charmant. Places of Interest Camera Obscura Castlehill, the Royal Mile, Old Town 226 3709 As Edinburgh’s oldest visitor attraction Camera Obscure is still as popular today as it was 150 years ago. With its quirky attractions including holograms of a giant, moving tarantula and Dracula rising from his coffin, it also takes a fascinating look at Edinburgh through the ages. Tours are fun as well as informative. Open every day – [April - October 9.30am-6pm (or later)] – [November to March 10am-5pm] Eating Bistro du Vin 11 Bristo Place, Edinburgh 0131 247 4900 Wonderful bistro newly opened in November 2008 nestled in the heart of the Old Town. Serving classic European cuisine with a superb wine list. Open for lunch and dinner.
Entertainment Dovecot Studios 10 Infirmary Street, Edinburgh 0131 550 3660 After an £8 million refurbishment, August 2008 saw the opening of Dovecot: new studio, exhibition and living spaces in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. The newly renovated former Victorian Baths will provide a permanent home for Dovecot Studios and an exciting new workshop space in which to develop collaborations with international artists and designers.
