Places of Interest Edinburgh Castle Old Town As one of the most famous landmarks in Edinburgh, the Castle sits elegantly above the city. A visit to Edinburgh is truly not complete until you have walked round the site which dates from the 12th Century. As you explore, you can see the hourly changing of the guard and marvel at St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh, however do not be startled by the one o' clock gun salute, which happens on most weekdays.
