It is brilliantly located, with the Meadows minutes from the back door and The Festival Theatre and Old Town attractions within a few minutes walk too. Access to Edinburgh University is excellent. There is a superb range of great restaurants within a couple of minutes walk together with food shops, cafes, bars etc. You certainly don't need a car in this fantastic central location as you can walk everywhere. Entered through a charming south facing garden with mature plants and flowers, flagstones, a table and chairs and a BBQ, this charming apartment offers a degree of privacy you would not expect in such a central location. It is very well decorated using Farrow and Ball colours, there are wonderful paintings and antiques everywhere. The dining kitchen has an original flagstone floor, family portraits, antique chairs and a round table seating 6, a wood burning stove, dishwasher, a comfy chair, TV and ipod dock. It is very well equipped for anyone wanting to cook. The laundry room is located off the kitchen and has a washer/dryer, microwave and coffee machine. The kitchen also leads to a wonderful conservatory with a vine (producing grapes!) and jasmine and seating to sit and enjoy the sun. The conservatory opens onto the garden too. The sitting room has a wooden floor, a Bechstein grand piano, paintings by some of Scotland's leading contemporary artists, a TV and lots of comfy seating. The bedroom is peaceful as it looks onto University gardens and has a superkingsize bed, a polished wooden floor, pretty floral wallpaper, some lovely antiques and an ensuite shower room. The hallway has a polished flagstone floor and is lined with beautiful paintings and furniture. There is a wonderful bathroom with a roll top bath and separate shower again filled with lovely paintings. As well as being reached from Meadow Lane, the apartment can also be accessed from Buccleuch Place. There is wifi. This is a unique opportunity to stay in a character-filled and truly special Edinbuirgh home from home. Please note, during the Edinburgh Festival a whole month booking is preferred in this apartment.

Drinking Borough 72-80 Causewayside, Edinburgh 0131 668 2255 Borough has long been one of Edinburgh's best-kept secrets, serving up cocktails and chilled beats, but just beyond the retro chic of the bar rests a small but perfectly formed restaurant. Mellow lighting from a galaxy of small, scattered light bulbs shines gently down on dark green or burgundy C-shaped booths and just a couple of open tables. Get a booth if you can – they're comfortably intimate without being claustrophobic – and relax. Drinking Centraal 32 West Nicolson Street, Edinburgh 0131 667 7355 Centraal bar and restaurant tucks itself away at the bottom of a steep staircase, with the emphasis placed on the extensive drinks menu, which lists imported beers aplenty, reasonably priced cocktails, wine and even a choice of cigars. Walk through the sofa-lined bar area, complete with tropical fish tank, into a candle-lit, bistro-style dining area simply decorated in keeping with the exposed brick work and wooden beams. The menu offers pretty standard fare coupled with a few options Centraal have made its own. Eating Bistro du Vin 11 Bristo Place, Edinburgh 0131 247 4900 Wonderful bistro newly opened in November 2008 nestled in the heart of the Old Town. Serving classic European cuisine with a superb wine list. Open for lunch and dinner.
Eating Peckhams Below 49 South Clerk Street, Edinburgh 0131 668 3737 Any Peckhams establishment is always an enticing option, and here the tasty delights offered in their extensive deli lure customers downstairs to sample the day menu and evening meals. They're fresh, generous and good value for money, featuring a variety of tasty morsels to sample, including green pesto, hummus, taramasolata and an array of cured meats, or halloumi and pineapple skewers served with piping hot flat breads. The desserts include such delights as home-made banoffee pie served with ice-cream and Peckhams' own tasty cheesecake special. Entertainment Festival Theatre 13/29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh 0131 529 6000 The Festival Theatre is the capital's arena for Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet and is at the heart of the Edinburgh International Festival. The Theatre programmes a contemporary dance season, alongside large-scale musicals, international ballet companies and a variety of one night musical events. Entertainment The Queens Hall 85-89 Clerk Street, Edinburgh 0131 668 2019 The Queen's Hall offers a wide range of events to tempt you all year round - classical, jazz, blues, pop, rock, world, folk and comedy, and is also home to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Places of Interest Arthur's Seat / Holyrood Park Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 823 feet, provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is quite easy to climb, and is a popular walk.
Holyrood Park, which is also known as Queen's Park, is a royal park in central Edinburgh. It is regarded as a microcosm of Scottish scenery with an array of hills, lochs, glens, ridges, basalt cliffs, and patches of gorse. The park is associated with the royal palace of Holyroodhouse, and was formerly a 12th-century royal hunting estate, although it is now publicly accessible.
