"I was just sitting here giving your information to a friend who plans to visit Edinburgh when I reflected back on what a wonderful experience the Browns Place flat was. I loved Edinburgh and certainly hope to return soon. Thank you for everything."

Drinking Café Royal Bar Behind Burger King at the East End of Princes Street, Central New Town This elegant Victorian bar is one of Edinburgh’s old favourites. Large central bar and often standing room only. Interesting looking crowd. Drinking Kay's Bar 39 Jamaica Street, West New Town Small and cosy, this old New Town favourite is always packed full. Great selection of real ales and good hearty crowd and very good value filling lunches. There?s always a fire burning in the winter. Eating Café Marlayne 76 Thistle Street, Central New Town 226 2230 Genuinely French, tiny little restaurant that feels like a real find. Scrumptious food although not great for veggies. Great value lunch. Eating Appetite @ Rowlands 42 Howe Street, Central New Town 225 3711 Team Charlie and Nigel have really made the most of this fantastic take away shop which was an Edinburgh institution under Rowland and continues to be so with Charlie and Nigel. They have a great range of delicious home made proper food and are famous for their curries and salads. There are usually five choices of yummy hot main meals. This is a superb place to get your dinner too, if you’re feeling too lazy to cook. They are also Edinburgh’s leading outside caterers. There’s a family connection so mention you’re in a Dickins flat for even better service. They close at around 4pm. Entertainment The Stand Comedy Club 5 York Place Central New Town 558 7272 Stand up shows feature the best Scottish and international comedians on the contemporary live circuit, hosted by our seasoned team of top comperes. Acts include Daniel Kitson, Johnny Vegas, Dylan Moran and Simon Munnery. Places of Interest Royal Botanical Gardens Inverleith Row [East Gate] & Arboretum Place [West Gate], Stockbridge 552 7171 The Botanic Gardens have one of most impressive collections of trees and plants in the world and is a gorgeous place to get lost in an while away a few hours. The glasshouses are where we Edinburgh folk used to go for a treat before the days of central heating! Inverleith House usually has an interesting modern art exhibition and the views of Edinburgh from here are stunning.
