Good vibe, great views both out of the window and behind the bar. Good selection of cocktails. You can sit outside in the summer and take in the stunning Edinburgh rooftop views. Drinking Kay's Bar 39 Jamaica Street, West New Town Small and cosy, this old New Town favourite is always packed full. Great selection of real ales and good hearty crowd and very good value filling lunches. There?s always a fire burning in the winter. Eating Fishers in the City 58 Thistle Street, Central New Town, 225 5109 This is the bigger and buzzier new relation of the Leith stalwart. Never disappoints and good for an occasion dinner. Owned by David Ramsden, former owner of (fitz)Henry and Rogue he delights your senses with great value food and wine in a chilled environment. The menu consists of wonderful Scottish and British ingredients and the Seafood is sourced from Fife and Caithness. Some of our favourite dishes are the Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas, Mushroom & Brie on Toast, Honey Glazed Pork Belly and the British favourite Jelly & Ice Cream. Entertainment The Stand Comedy Club 5 York Place Central New Town 558 7272 Stand up shows feature the best Scottish and international comedians on the contemporary live circuit, hosted by our seasoned team of top comperes. Acts include Daniel Kitson, Johnny Vegas, Dylan Moran and Simon Munnery. Entertainment The Omni Centre Hillside Its large modern glass structure dominates but also complements the surrounding area. There’s a mix of nationwide bars and restaurants to suit most tastes. It also has a Holmes Place Gym and Vue cinema with the latest films showing. Places of Interest Royal Botanical Gardens Inverleith Row [East Gate] & Arboretum Place [West Gate], Stockbridge 552 7171 The Botanic Gardens have one of most impressive collections of trees and plants in the world and is a gorgeous place to get lost in an while away a few hours. The glasshouses are where we Edinburgh folk used to go for a treat before the days of central heating! Inverleith House usually has an interesting modern art exhibition and the views of Edinburgh from here are stunning.
