"I was just sitting here giving your information to a friend who plans to visit Edinburgh when I reflected back on what a wonderful experience the Browns Place flat was. I loved Edinburgh and certainly hope to return soon. Thank you for everything."

| | | | Charming and very well presented, this two bedroom, two bathroom New Town/Stockbridge apartment is in a brilliant location and has a parking space. St Stephen Street runs between the New Town and Stockbridge and so there is a huge range of excellent local shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes on the doorstep. The Botanic Gardens are close by and the Water of Leith with wonderful walks which feel like being in the middle of the countryside is also within a few minutes. The apartment also has wireless broadband and a lift and so offers all you would hope for in an Edinburgh home from home. This holiday apartment is available for self catering, short lets and for the Edinburgh Festival. From £425 per week....
Located in a modern development so warm and easy to take care of, this lovely apartment has a very homely feel. The sitting room is a good size and has a sofa and some armchairs too and there is a flat screen TV with freeview channels. The kitchen is a charming room with a dining table seating 4 and is well equipped for cooking. The two double bedrooms look over the back of the building and so are very quiet. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and is a lovely room. There is a second double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. The apartment has wireless broadband and a parking space in the basement of the building. There is a lift.
Over the Festival a whole month booking is preferred in this apartment. |

Eating Appetite @ Rowlands 42 Howe Street, Central New Town 225 3711 Team Charlie and Nigel have really made the most of this fantastic take away shop which was an Edinburgh institution under Rowland and continues to be so with Charlie and Nigel. They have a great range of delicious home made proper food and are famous for their curries and salads. There are usually five choices of yummy hot main meals. This is a superb place to get your dinner too, if you’re feeling too lazy to cook. They are also Edinburgh’s leading outside caterers. There’s a family connection so mention you’re in a Dickins flat for even better service. They close at around 4pm. Eating Café Marlayne 76 Thistle Street, Central New Town 226 2230 Genuinely French, tiny little restaurant that feels like a real find. Scrumptious food although not great for veggies. Great value lunch. Eating Fishers in the City 58 Thistle Street, Central New Town, 225 5109 This is the bigger and buzzier new relation of the Leith stalwart. Never disappoints and good for an occasion dinner. Best to book. Places of Interest National Portrait Gallery 1 Queen Street Central New Town 624 6200 Provides a unique visual history of Scotland, told through portraits of the figures who shaped it: royals and rebels, poets and philosophers, heroes and villains. The collection includes work not only by Scottish artists but by great English, European and American masters such as Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Rodin and Kokoschka. In addition to paintings, the Portrait Gallery displays sculptures, miniatures, coins, medallions, drawings and watercolours. There’s a great café here too selling delicious home made food and some hard to resist cakes. Places of Interest Royal Botanical Gardens Inverleith Row [East Gate] & Arboretum Place [West Gate], Stockbridge 552 7171 The Botanic Gardens have one of most impressive collections of trees and plants in the world and is a gorgeous place to get lost in an while away a few hours. The glasshouses are where we Edinburgh folk used to go for a treat before the days of central heating! Inverleith House usually has an interesting modern art exhibition and the views of Edinburgh from here are stunning. Shopping Bowers 75 Raeburn Place, Stockbridge Not for the blood shy! This proper old style butcher has superb quality meat and game and you’re likely to hear some of the funniest chat you are to witness this year whilst waiting in the queue next to a dead pheasant or twenty. Good range of taxidermy too!
